The CE Deadline has been updated to November 5, 2022.
The 2016 CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain is in the process of being updated to include new evidence and recommendations on acute, subacute, and chronic pain. The updated clinical practice guideline is intended to help improve communication between healthcare professionals and patients and empower them to make informed, patient-centered decisions related to safer and effective pain care.
This module will describe quality improvement (QI) measures intended to help incorporate Guideline recommendations into clinical workflow, outline the five-step QI implementation process, and explain strategies for care coordination that can be deployed at the practice- and system-level of care delivery. This module also offers participants the opportunity to identify strategies, resources, and tools they can use when facilitating the integration of the CDC Guideline into clinical practice.
Please refer to the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain and the CDC’s Quality Improvement and Care Coordination: Implementing the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain for additional information as needed during this training.
