The Virtual Planners Course 101 trains partners, stakeholders, and interagency individuals on the standardized Department of Homeland Security five-phase Department Plan Development Process (DPDP). The course provides virtual, applied learning training. During the course, students work collaboratively to perform various roles needed for a planning team using DPDP to develop and write an emergency plan, conduct briefings, and perform as a member of a planning team. The course provides an opportunity for local, state, and federal agencies to learn and communicate in an interactive, participatory planning process.

Target Audience

The target audience for this activity is horizontal and vertical partners and stakeholders from CDC, USG interagency partners, state, local, territorial, and tribal partners, and nongovernmental agency partners. The target audience is inclusive of administrators, certified health educators, epidemiologists, pharmacists, program managers, physicians, nurses, and any individuals that will potentially support, participate, or lead an emergency response, continuity of operations, or hazard-specific contingency or crisis action planning process.

Materials

Course materials including student reference guide and templates will be available to students on a secure CDC ShareFile site (http://sharefile.cdc.gov) which students are granted access upon registering for the course. Students are able to access all materials on the CDC ShareFile site for one-month post-completion of the course and can download materials to their own personal files at any time before access is restricted.
