Complex, but relevant overlapping or intersecting factors (also known an intersectionality) contribute to decisions made by the healthcare team as well as patients. Such multi-layered contributing factors are associated with cancer disparity outcomes in the form of delayed access to cancer care, delayed decisions to participate in recommended cancer screening and non-adherence to follow-up upon receipt of abnormal cancer screening results.

Expert Panel of Presenters:

Steven J. Atlas, MD, MPH Associate Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School Director, Practice-Based Research & Quality Improvement [Division of General Internal Medicine]

JC Chen, MD General Surgery Resident, Ohio State University-College of Medicine

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to explain the concept of intersectionality from a health equity perspective as well as apply strategies or other methods to resolve challenges or gaps associated with follow-up of abnormal cancer screening results impacting low-income patients along the cancer control continuum.
