Complex, but relevant overlapping or intersecting factors (also known an intersectionality) contribute to decisions made by the healthcare team as well as patients. Such multi-layered contributing factors are associated with cancer disparity outcomes in the form of delayed access to cancer care, delayed decisions to participate in recommended cancer screening and non-adherence to follow-up upon receipt of abnormal cancer screening results.
