This activity is to instruct healthcare personnel on use of the TAP (targeted assessment for prevention) strategy to prevent healthcare-associated infections and to instruct participants on validating their data and internal validation for improved data quality. The participant will then be able to present data to the staff, initiate process improvements at the facility level, and positively impact healthcare practices. This educational opportunity will enhance the knowledge and skills of the users in order to decrease healthcare-associated infections and improve patient safety and patient outcomes.

Target Audience

The target audience is healthcare personnel involved in infection prevention and control.

Prerequisites

Participants should have some clinical background and be familiar with the content of National Safety Healthcare Network (NHSN) Manual: Patient Safety Component Protocol document available on the NHSN website and basic analysis functions within the NHSN application.

Certified Public Health (CPH):

TCEO does not provide CPE certificates. As a Pharmacist, you must log into the CPE monitor 8 weeks after the activity to obtain CE credit.
