CDI 101: Overview of Clostridium difficile Infection
Provides background information on the impact of C. difficile has on patients, the pathogenesis of C. difficile infection and strategies to prevent C. difficile infection. This module sets the stage for the subsequent modules in this course.
CDI 102: Antibiotic and Lab Testing Stewardship to Prevent Clostridium difficile Infections (CDI)
Offers an overview of aspects of antibiotic stewardship and lab testing stewardship and how they play a crucial role in preventing C. difficile infection. This module builds off the information discussed in the foundational infection prevention strategies Antibiotic Stewardship course.
CDI 103: Clostridium difficile Infection: Preventing Transmission
Share how C. difficile transmission occurs and how health care staff can work together to prevent transmission. Additionally, this module outlines common barriers and offers strategies to effectively overcome challenges. This module builds off the information discussed in the foundational infection prevention strategies Personal Protective Equipment and Environmental Cleaning course.
CDI 104: Monitoring for Compliance and Improvement
Discusses the way hospitals can use both processes and outcomes data to identify gaps in practice, monitor compliance to evidence-based practices, communicate with key stakeholders and turn their data into actionable information to drive improvement.
CDI 201: Using the Guide to Patient Safety (GPS) and Targeted Assessment for Prevention (TAP) to Assess CDI Prevention Efforts
Discusses how to use the CDI GPS and TAP to establish focus goals to evaluate possible barriers to implementation of CDI prevention strategies. This module is a pivot point between the Tier 1 basic CDI prevention strategies and the Tier 2 enhanced and intensive CDI prevention strategies.
CDI 202: Clostridium difficile Infection Tier 2 Interventions
|
Outlines the Tier 2, enhanced CDI prevention strategies and how to implement these more complex interventions. These strategies include initiating Contact Precautions when CDI results are pending and extending them until discharge, implementing environmental cleaning process tools and using an EPA sporicidal agent, and implementing hand hygiene with soap and water as the preferred method at room exit with enhanced staff training and monitoring.
