Five self-study training courses that provide comprehensive training for the Device-associated Module of NHSN are now available. The 5 courses are: Introduction to the Device-associated Module, CLABSI, VAP, CAUTI, and CLIP. The courses will review the structure of the DA module and the methodology used for data collection, define key terms and protocol criteria for each of the different infection types, describe how to collect and calculate the infection rates and the standardized infection ratio, and interpret the data for meaningful use.

Topics covered: Introduction to the Device-associated Module, Central Line-associated Bloodstream Infection, Catheter-associated Urinary Tract Infection, Central Line Insertion Practice, Pneumonia Events

This course presents the introduction to the NHSN Device-associated Module and the surveillance methods, definitions, and metrics for: Catheter-associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) Surveillance, Central Line-associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) Surveillance, Ventilator-associated Pneumonia (VAP) Surveillance, and Central Line Insertion Practices.

Continuing Medical Education for Physicians (CME):

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this Enduring material activity for a maximum of 2.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity

Continuing Nursing Education for Nurses (CNE):

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited as a provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This activity provides 2.6 contact hours.

IACET Continuing Education Units (CEU):

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is authorized by IACET to offer 0.3 CEU's for this program.

Certified Public Health (CPH):

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a pre-approved provider of Certified in Public Health (CPH) recertification credits and is authorized to offer 3 CPH recertification credits for this program.

TCEO does not provide CPE certificates. As a Pharmacist, you must log into the CPE monitor 8 weeks after the activity to obtain CE credit.
