Training and Continuing Education Online (TCEO)

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) Pediatric Asthma Initiative works to create environments that are free from asthma triggers and other impediments to living well with asthma. Leveraging the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) CCARE initiative and EXHALE Technical Package and the National Heart, Blood, and Lung Institute’s National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma, NEEF applies systems-level guidance to promote the integration of environmental management of pediatric asthma guidelines into primary medical practice.

This online educational activity supports the development of skills and knowledge required by physicians to effectively manage and improve health outcomes for children with asthma. Following this approach, interdisciplinary teams can achieve successful asthma management for children and their caregivers that builds patient and family capacity for asthma self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.

This activity provides the impetus for healthcare providers to actively collaborate with patients, parents, and caregivers to identify environmental triggers and implement evidence-based environmental interventions for asthma.

Instruction supports the development of required skills through the use of case studies, guided exercise, and open dialogue.

Healthcare providers completing this educational activity will receive NEEF's “Asthma Champion” designation.
